HO / DDA40X low horn volumes For the Bachmann
August 10, 2016, 06:45:09 PM
Hay Bachmann .Has there been any updates on the sound value decoder since the initial 2011 release to address the low horn volume issue? The volumes are 2/3 higher on all the other functions. So to balance out to where the horn volume should be they have to be dropped 2/3 rds .This set up seems to need adjusting that cv's cannot provide.Do you have a fix OR Updated revision that can fix this issue ,or is the only way to make it better to replace it with a MRC since I am on a budget and so this is the reason for the SV purchase and well the horns are all bad.
Thanks,
Johnny

Spectrums can be found there sometimes also. Find some great deals if you hunt long enough,be frugal .

Dynamis has good quality in power to where a booster is not needed unless your going over a  scale mile and a half 2 track with sidings. I can run 3-4 large trains with sound. Only problem I have had is communication with the base .A few mirrors in the layout room fixed that.Bounces the signal.

Yep. Seem to want to forget those pancake motors. Always lucky enough I guess to find a plus type version split frame with a can motor. They seem to do ok with good gears in them if that is a possible find any more.

HO / Re: New locomotive noisy?
August 08, 2016, 09:26:46 PM
They are all noisy. Break in time required for any mechanism even Bachmann's competition hint. It has been sitting for years a inspection of the mechanism before running may be a logical idea if it needs to be lubricated or not, Take the shell off and make a effort by looking it over. This is a Bachmann Sponsored Forum .Questions should be inquired here about Bachmann Products.

Replace them if it is worth it too you with standard metal drivers like the rest of them. The parts department has plenty if you take the time to browse through the many. Then once installed, add as much weight to the loco in every nook and crannie as possible.Do ot create a stall issue with too much for the motor to handle. They have to slip a little just like full scale. This is the main reason why traction tires are no good for the drive line also the crud they pick up and spread along the rail head.

The bigger the better.Too small of feeders under heavy load will causes resistance issues.Just like plumbing if you use a 1/2 inch pipe for flow when a 3/4 or 1 inch is required to supply a good source you will have higher pressure ,but lower volume. This restriction will cause a drop in volume on demand of max volume. In electrical terms brown out,or burnt melted wire when they are too small.Just seems the simplest way to describe how it works being you cannot see the electricity until it jumps out and bites you.

Automatic transmission fluid will soften it. Soak it for a little wile ,then wash with soap and water .It will work as long as it is not dry rotted and cracking.

Sound is great to have .If it is annoying then turn it down .Or press function 8 to mute. I agree with you on the Heritage diesels. For the high end price they should have working ditch lights and some more detail.A basic Walthers 70ace has working ditch lights and uses the same sound decoder, and they also give a option of sound or no sound ,but either come with working ditch lights. They have the basic kit type body drill indexes to drill out and add your own parts easily not molded detailing that looks bad and complicates things like the paint if you want to add your own details.Whom ever made that decision to mOld half of the grab irons and not light the ditch lights up should maybe do another job. The production cost could not be the reason since again everyone that makes a 70ace  does it except this one. Hopefully they will see the light when they start getting dusty on the shelf.Just my opinion.
