dear sirs, i have both locomotives and they are indeed sweet runners &have looks to boot. if you are considering doing another run  why could you not move the headlight down to the centre of the smokebox  and maybe change the top of the tender to an oil tank.these small mods would sure be in exspensive and would give these locos a whole new look, you could also use the smaller tender on both locos..if this happens in the near future ? count on me to buy more/ also more CNR &CPR LOGOS PLEASE
many thanks for any &all considerations

N / re bachmann service turn around
April 12, 2012, 01:56:24 PM
GREETINGS
First time using BACHMANN'S WARRANTY SERVICE from what i understand is excellent but i sent my n gauge dcc 2-8-0 in for a claim on mar28/12 and got a confirmation tag with repair no# on it saying the turn around on this claim would be 8 wks. i appreciate the notification but 2 months to repair seems a bit long. i would expect this ammount of time after xmas but not in april. the only logigal reason i can think of is there is no replacement stock,i noticed a lot of retailers are also out, possibly this is the reason. i have had nothing but problems with this specific unit from day 1 and followed various forum Advisories ie loosen bottom plate screws a tad etc.etc. all my other BACHMANN purchases are excellent. would any one  care to comment on your turn around time or am i being not to flexable. your imput would be most helpfull understanding this time frame. regards&later KEWATIN

N / STEAM LOCO LUBRICATION SCHEDULE
March 07, 2012, 09:58:08 AM
Good day, i have several steam locos that have now been broken in and some have at least 20 hrs running time on them and am wondering what the majority of you modellers use for a lubricant &time wise when you shedule it. also i will give an update on my bachmann 2-8-0 that would not pull more than 3 cars when new, it is so much better now that i took the bottom plate of and put back on and snugged up the 3 screws. also another factor is i set the start voltage from 10 to 0 , biggg differenceeee. i did did this with all my bachmann steamers, also they work just as good on dc. my 2-8-0 will now pull approx 20 cars& slow speed throttle responce is very good. any help with the lub item&shedule would be most welcome.

N / question re NCE POWER CAB POWER PANEL
February 26, 2012, 08:33:37 PM
I have a feeling that i might have damaged my nce power panel, the power cab was not plugged into the power panel when i accidently switched from dc to dcc. .my layout is wired for dcc &also dc as i have a lot of locos that are dc&not all are upgradable. when i plugged my power cab into the power panel every thing went fine, ready lite came on recalled loco address &throttled up NADA no headlight etc. tried another loco, selected loco # again nada. would i be correct in assuming that idamaged the power panel if so i can get another from my favourite on-line store for $18.00.OR IS THEIR SOMETHING ELSE I SHOULD TRY, any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

N / question about dual mode bachmann decoder
February 06, 2012, 03:31:18 PM
as a newbie to dcc i have finally finished wiring mypresent layout to dcc anf all is well, except i have a new nce power cab &i checked out my bachmann 2-8-0 on the inital start-up address as 3 &all went well, then i got brave and set the loco address to long and again all went well except i cannot run the loco on dc anymore. i am sure i said no to dc programming so my question is if i set any more locos to just the 3 address or set the set-up address in my dcc power cab to dc  will i be able to still use the locos on dc as well as dcc. sorry for the long rant but being an older person ,new technolagy comes real slow ,but am eager to learn. hopefully someone here on the forum will be able to explain this issue to me.
many thanks  regards&later KEWATIN

i have a recently purchased    A BACHMANN DCC 2-8-0'that won't start to move until my KATO POWER PACK shows 9.3 volts on my volt meter. i have broken the loco in with suggested break-in times & even loosened the 2 screws on the bottom plate to see if it makes a difference, but to no avail. also i am under the impression that this loco will pull approx 15 to 20 cars on level track, mine pulls 3 riverossi heavey weight cars and thats about it. with 12 volts dc it is definately no speed demon, more like a turtle. no sign of binding.i think maybe a bad motor? i am of the mindset to send it back to bachmann but would like some imput from those whom know more tnan me or have experience with these type of problems. thanking you in advance for your replys,

Because i am 140 miles from nearest hobby shop it is impractical to drive this distance  to purchase, where as locally i can purchase a 5 lb box of plaster -paris for $4.99. what results can i expect using the plaster -paris over the lite weight hydracal.  any different mold prep and i have feeling the castings using the plaster-paris will in all probability be not as strong, but i am between a rock &a hard place. any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated.

i am curious to what most modellers use for a release agent for there woodland scenics rock molds, their instructions are a little confusing, do i use a spray bottle of water with 2 drops of liquid detergent  to spray molds or add the detergent drops to the hydacal pour. i have also assumed that you spayed on a release agent first. as i don't want to damage my molds any help regarding the above question would be most helpfull.
