On30 / Re: sound decoder for On30 2-6-0
November 28, 2011, 04:03:03 PM
In fact, please follow Harold Minkwitz´s recommendations at Pacificcoastairliner.com
Harold did a wonderful job to determine how to get the 2-6-0 apart.

Small decoders will fit into the engines body here. For a safer electric pickup you may want to add wipers to the tender trucks and connect them to the decoder. This is a bit of extra work but worth the effort!

On30 / Re: 2-8-0

I can definitely say this too. The 2-8-0 is to me the finest example of Bachmann´s craftmanship on the On30 AND Fn3 market. A chunky little engine that is, and I have based various converts into D&RGW engines following my pal Bill Iwan´s recommendations in the On30 annual...

Check them out on Flickr: D&RGW No. 360 and 361 (C-21) and D&RGW No.375 (C-25)

Yep, I did place this question in here some weeks again,
thanks for asking again, as it stayed uncommented by the Bach-man..

I still have hesitated to pre-order mine as I would like to check their painted
appearance before...

Hope, Bach-man, you can post some photos the next time...?

Thanks, kind regards,
Tom ;) ;) ;)

The 2-8-0. Basis for various kitbashes into D&RGW engines (C-21 No. 360,361 and C-25 No.375)
Love that chunky Consolidation...

On30 / Re: Future of ON30
October 25, 2011, 01:39:10 PM
Jim,

well said. On30 and thanks: Bachmann did get me started into O-scale at all. A O-Std Gauge 2-Rail layout followed... And my first engine was the C&S No.21 Mogul. This little gem is worth to be re-introduced with DCC and preferably sound one day.

On30´s future looks bright and clear to me. Scratchbuilding rolling stock is fun, you´re right Jim. And I pray and hope that Bachmann will keep going in On30, even when we may need to adjust the speed a bit, the financial crisis will take its toll, but keep an eye on this forum: there are masses of On30 people out there begging for another masterpiece from Bachmann´s workbenches...

No in fact there´s light at the end of the tunnel, or - if we are going through a tunnel anyway, rather a high trestle to our Logging emporiumsm eh....?

Cheers, Tom ;) ;) ;)

On30 / When will we see the variants of the HEISLER ?
October 24, 2011, 06:04:41 AM
Dear Bach-man,

when will we be able to see how the various versions of the coming Heisler locomotive will be looking like?
I haven´t pre-ordered my ones yet as I´d like to see first what comes in that green box... =)

Would be awesome if you please could post a estimated date for photos...
Thank you so much,

kind regards! A happy On30 Logger...

On30 / Re: what does everybody want after the Heisler?
October 15, 2011, 01:17:01 PM
I would vote for a K-27 too. MMI did make them, but they had their negative sides too.
Bachmann could do far better AND make a RGS past-wreck version.

Or, if we stay with D&RGW: C-21 and C-25 plus a RGS version of the 4-6-0: 20 please... =)

Another good tasting sweetie would be the Articulated like in Fn3, never built in Narrow Gauge, but a fine lokie to have in On30. And some day a bigger, more modern Shay - West Side....?

Cheers, Tom ;) ;) ;)

Yep.

As far as I have understood, the engine detail parts product line was discontinued long time ago. With a little luck you could grab some of the parts in a shop, but they are all gone now I´m afraid. No one was noticed to have taken over the production or even a fragrance of the products once available...

Would be awesome if they would become available again in the near future.

Cheers, Tom

Yep. True what you said, Hamish!

The lil´Heisler is a beauty, even when I can confirm that I was hoping for a more modern one. But hey...
we finally got that geared engine we have been looking for so long!

I had that gearbox issues on one of the Climax engines I have, while I had no issues with my Shays.
Bachmann - make my day and give this model a delivery prior to Christmas!
Now that we know what´s in the works, we can´t wait to have one... ;)

It´s a good signal and we love your "green signal" for a continued interest in 0n30.
And not to forget: that Log skidder is a nice thing too!!!

Cheers, Tom :) :) :)

Yep. Now as it´s out of the hat, we are much anticipating this lil´geared Lokie...
Hope for November, to see it chugging through our white winter logging wonderland...  :)

Cheers,
a happy, happy Tom! ;) ;) ;)

That would make my day too... :) :) :)

Outstanding to have that third geared engine finally. We had been hoping for it that long and finally got it.
Let´s hope, folks, that this model won´t suffer the gearbox/drivetrain problems some of us had to complain about.

Cheers, Tom ;) ;) ;)

Hmm, folks: I´m not sure if the 4-4-0 is back on their plannings. It appeared that MMI did cancel more or less everything in On30. Even the C-21, C-25, C-17 etc. were cancelled, as were the West Side Lumber shays.

Consider a 4-4-0 to be very stiff necked like the engines already out on the market. Even the C-19 did let me down regarding her frame and gear. This engine tends to derail with ease, I´ve got three K-27´s with totally different running abilities...

Detailling is awesome on the MMI engines, but Bachmann can do this too: Look at the 2-6-6-2: Outstanding. Look at the 2-8-0: my favorite ever. Basis for several kitbashes into D&RGW engines.

Hey Bachmann, thanks for giving uns these marvels. We expect great things to come soon! ;) ;) ;)

Cheers, Tom :)
