Good day Bach Man,

I was wandering around the web yesterday and moseyed over across the pond to the official Dynamis site - http://www.dynamisdcc.com - and noticed the availability of three products.  Walthers advertises the Pro box being available on 31 July, 2009.

Can you let us (me) know if it will be available in the US then?  What about a MSRP? Lastly, will there be an upgrade path for those of us who own the currently availabe Dynamis Control System or will we have to pay full price for the Pro?

Dynamis Pro-Box # 36-508[/i]

* Expands Dynamis
* Allows up to four wireless handsets to be used at any one time
* Service programming track output - power switched from main track automatically
* Allows all CVs to be read by Dynamis system
* Full service mode programming of Decoders
* Allows all CVs to programmed by Dynamis system
* Receiver expansion unit allows up to five 36-509 Receivers to be attached to Dynamis system
* ECoslink connection to other devices

and the Dynamis Wireless Receiver # 36-509[/i]

* Use with Dynamis Pro system to extend receiver coverage

and the Dynamis Point Accessory Decoder OPP 4 Points[/i]

Accessory decoder with four outputs to power point motors, signals etc. Each output can be configured to provide a constant or pulse output. Additionally, two of the outputs can be configured to drive a standard RC servo. Can be used with any NMRA complying DCC system.

Thanks-

Very well.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the phonetically correct Olde Phart of Canadia and the Speedy Chief of Yampa Valley for the wisdom and stability imparted onto this forum.  Keep up the good work and high standards.

You too, PD.

Hey you three Olde Fartes, does this mean not one of you wants to buy my Dynamis?  If I can't sell it by the 27th I'll have to take it to the local once a year train show / swap meet / buy it / get it fixed / or consign it meet.

Happy Rails,

HO / Re: Can Motor in DCC Ready loco
June 16, 2009, 11:32:33 PM

The said steam switcher is a Mantua Classics - ATSF loco.  It is one of 4 lines available. http://tinyurl.com/l6wok3

"The Camelback - or "Goat" - switcher was created as a way for railroads using anthracite coal to better utilize the cleaner burning fuel.

Replicating one such "Goat," this DCC-ready, HO scale, Mantua Classics model features finely molded locomotive and tender bodies; a powerful can motor for excellent low-speed operation and pulling power; a die cast chassis; operating head and rear lights; a three-piece brass bell; a metal valve gear and handrails; a simulated coal load; die cast wheels with nickel rims; magnetically operated knuckle couplers; Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe markings; and more. 6¾" long; arrives ready to run."

As you can see the ad info gives no hint about an 8 pin NMRA or 9 pin presence.  I'll check out Mantua or make a call.

What is a can motor?  I'm looking at a DCC Ready "goat" 0-6-0 steam switcher with a can motor at http://www.historicrail.com

Are they reliable & long lasting?  Worth making into DCC?

Thanks-

I get my decals here

or here

Thanks PD.  I also located some dry transfers on the Woodland Scenics site -

BestSnowman,

I didn't intend to hijack your thread.  I'm done now.

Snowman,

I inherited some rail stock that has been beautifully painted RR rusty-red.  I believe they are old Tyco stuff and need wheel sets & couplers.  Where can I find decals not for any particular line (PRR as below) but the RR info on every car - numbers, etc. like this...

Anyone?

Jonathan mumbled:

My sincere apologies for posting so much lately.  I'm on a big learning curve at the moment.

Nonsense, you haven't posted too much at all.  I live vicariously through the posts of all the good folks here.   ;D  :D  Seriously, if it wasn't for this forum and an occasional look at another one or two, reading the obituaries and Family Circus in the newspaper, reading Jim's posts 'till I understand what he's writing (Canadian was always a hard language for me to translate into English) and laughing at Bob and PD picking at each other I'd have to open a book or something!  Keep talking.

Ah' Beauty is in the eye of the beholder  ;)

This looks like one of three locomotives the Jim Beam Whiskey Distlery used as a model for decanters.  They made three trains I think - The General, J.B. Turner and John Bull I believe...

The Mini Panel docs say...

Installation Notes:
The mini panel runs off Cab Bus power (nominal 12V DC) and draws about 90mA of current, slightly less than a ProCab. NOTE: When used with a PowerCab use the mini panel must be used with the address of 3

I have foam to form yet.  I'll use '64s.

Thanks-

I have a Dynamis but have never used a converter with it.

Not train related but my first battery backups - Triplite brand - used in a darkroom I used to have required that I invest in line conditioners.  The Triplite put out a "square sine wave" my equipment wouldn't work with them.

does it come with its own power source? That is one thing I considered when I bought the ds 64's

PD,

As Tim pointed out it has "simple hookup, one Cab Bus connection and 2 wires for each pushbutton or other input device"

Build the kind of control panels you've always
                     wanted without complicated wiring!

Use one button to control multiple switches or macros on your NCE DCC
Up to 30 pushbuttons, toggle switches, block detectors, etc. can be connected for control of turnouts, signals and other devices
Easy programming, just plug in a ProCab
Simple hook up, one Cab Bus connection and 2 wires for each
pushbutton or other input device
Can be used to perform simple automatic train control and other
layout automation tasks

Mmmmaybe I'm expecting too much out of this.  It is a similar device as the DS64 - it is a multiple machine controller isn't it?
