HO / Turnout that matches 22" radius?
May 08, 2010, 10:02:28 PM
I know the standard remote turnouts match up with 18" radius curves, but does he #4,#5 or #6 match the 22" curves?  I thought I saw that information someplace but can't seem to find it now.  Also tried searching here and googleing and no luck.

The 6-Ton wagon comes in the forthcoming set "Salty's Dockside Delivery".

I just picked up the red coaches on ebay, glad I did, they're pretty cool and it's nice to have 2 sets of larger coaches.

I don't really pay much attention to the show, but are there usualy 3 coaches with Gordon or Henry or whoever may be pulling them?  I guess they just expect you to buy 2 of the same one.  Maybee I should get another red coach before they start to go up in price.

That would be really cool actualy.  I'm in need of a large bridge, and I love ones I've seen with the blinking red lights :)

Even if I need to use a few to do my span, that would be cool.

I'm sort of shooting for middle of the road right now.  I already have all the EZ track I should need for the layout, so I'll stick with that.

I know a little bit about wireing, I use to use Radio Shack wire and Atlas Connectors to run my HO Amusement Park.

I'm just doing the Thomas stuff for now, so I don't think it should be too hard to come up with something satisfying.

I got it moving after some more turning.  Thanks for the tips everyone.

That's what I was trying to do, but can't get it to budge.  Also looks like there may be an extra piece of metal or something between the wheel and axel that doesn't belong there, but I can't tell.

If I try to actualy pull the wheel off, will I break the assembly?

Agreed, I wasn't sure if Hobbytown was national or not, but I was sure it was at least a local chain of sorts.

Local hobby shops are about gone around where I live, I use to have one right across the street practicaly but sadly they're now gone.  I guess this internet world is to blame.  I get all the big stuff at close to half off MSRP, but it's cool to go to a local place for small stuff or scratch supplies and knowledgeable advice.

Thanks for the help guys, I just ordered a pack of Atlas insulated joiners.  Hopefully that will do the trick.

I wish I actualy had a knowledgeable local shop to go to for advice, guy at Hobbytown USA didn't seem to be too knowledgeable about it.

Thanks Bach-Man!  I actualy think I figured out the problem with Gordon, seems as though the front guide wheel isn't turning for some reason.  I can turn it with my finger but I noticed it doesn't turn when he's running.

I also just got Henry and ran him last night without issues.

Yup, pretty much so I can store Loco's on sideings.  I'm actualy doing a Thomas the Tank Engine layout, and I don't plan on using any DCC locos.  Sounds too complex to convert them myself and I'm sure it would cost an arm and a leg to get it done at a dealer.

I also wanted to be able to run 2 main lines independently but still have a connecting turnout between the 2 tracks.

The insulated track doesn't sound too bad, just a bit pricey.  The seller that I buy most of my Bachmann stuff through on ebay has them at $16 a package.  Too bad I just finished an order before I knew I needed them, wouldn't have cost me anything extra for the shipping.

Dear All,
I'm told that the platforms are long enough  for a large engine and long coach.
Anticipate!

Wow, that is alot of space.  I was hoping for at least enough room for the large engines plus their tenders.  So that's good!  I do wish we had detailed demensions though as I'd like to know if it will fit into my layout I'm planning.

I was just wondering if this was the case?  I have a track setup and I have Thomas, James and Gordon at this point and notice I'm having some trouble with Gordon but not the others.  I did notice that Gordon's train set came with the 22" radius curves, but I wasn't sure if those curves were required or not.  I haven't used that track yet, I've been using nickel silver Bachman EZ Track that I bought seperately.

Oh ok, quite pricey, I remember seeing those but thought you only needed those if you were using DCC.

Is that what I need for regular sidings and such?  I'm guessing it's insulated on just one end of the track?  I use to use Atlas connector switch boxes for operation of sideings in O Guage, will that work here?

HO / What is gap track?

Sorry, I'm new to Bachmann's track system.  But what exactly is gap track?  Is there a part number or place to buy it?  I see it mentioned alot in the EZ track guide book, but I don't see a part number or photo or anything.

I know back when I use to use O Gauge trains you had the plastic pins that you would replace the metal ones with to break stop the current.  I'm guessing gap track is something similar, but at my local Hobby Shop they didn't know what it was.  I thought maybee just pull off the joiners since the plastic base seems to keep the track together anyway, but is this correct or do I need to get a special joiner?

I'm going to use Bachmann EZ Track Nickel Silver.  Sounds like the most reliable, I will eventualy ballast it but just want to get the track layout up and trains running a while.  I'm sure that's all my little boy cares about lol.  But I plan to fully landscape and set it up so I could eventualy get "real" trains (probably mainly Santa Fe stuff) and just switch out from the Thomas characters and vice versa whenever.

Layout will actualy look nothing like yours now, decided to do pretty much a U-shape.  Once it's all together I'll try to post up some pics, I'll start my own topic though, didn't mean to hijack this one lol.
