Been surfing for a review of the 2-4-2 (#91197 range) !

According to my GR index binder, it was written up by GR Oct 2011 (?) but that is one I did not pickup sporadically after closing down subscription.

Anyone else do a online review of this unit ?

Alas George S.  went into semi-retirement regards his 'Tech' Tips',  previous to this newer unit being rolled out.

thanks,

Also 'american' vs 'european' track    If you walk on the 'american' track there is more of a chance of the rails popping from the ties !

That is why I stuck mainly with the euro unless used 'american' was up for sale at a decent price point ....

Also for more backgrd on the track,  both proto (?)  and G, chk out this page of George's (and then beyond since you're starting out)

Thanks Nathan !

Did not even think of chking Georges site since the b'mann vid (comments) and their cat' indicated not produced (but with this data just sold out).

Reads like they did have a run previous to '08 .....okay chkd my GRmag Index... Senor D. Goodson wrote up a review for the June'04 issue, pg.116 !

p.s.  sorry Tac and Kevin from off main -the jerk fix,  but at least it gets bumped up to remind others to finally read about the fix :)

Recently shared this tip with others via my info bulletin "THE515".

Alas, previously based on a couple comments this video (well-done/educational !!); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w7gROsC93A   and subsequently not finding within online B'mann cat'   I  figured the loco was never rolled out for public consumption.

Must have happened a few months later,  and no one updated comments  field with new facts to enlighten us !

Thanks  Larry  !

I had started to measure using my  (other manufacturer) helper, and did find the first couple were a bit narrow, but thought best to ask what happens if ... !!?   :)

".....and found on one out of every 4 or 5 axles, the wheels weren't remotely square to the axles, resulting in a wobble on the wheelset. Of course, for the price, you could toss the defective axle and still come out well ahead of where you'd be buying the higher-end wheels. ..."

Yeah that is what I found, but my purchase was like 1 out of 20 !

Anyways, reason did a search where this popped --- If ya find that the back to back is not say 1.575  and wish to adjust  is it possible to successfully regauge these B'mann metal wheels  ... or when they pull apart you may have just split the axle ... they just don't look like a solid axle  !?

thanks

If ya got the time I would say include them in your Db !

LS is LS  + G-gauge is G-gauge

Thomas and Lil'hauler !

albeit I don't personally plan on purchasing in the near future.   I do mention them when chatting with peoples with implied interest.

Thanks for your time !!

But then maybe  ho is the largest scale available to them, in their part of the world  !?  ;)

But seemingly not applicable for "outside the continental u.s.a"  !

Ya would think maybe offer 50% off shpg for "outside...." !

Standard ground u.s. is  cheaper,  but ya would think that would be equitable !?
(ie. recent parts sale over $75 = $15 shpg first class to Canada ... 50% possibly cheaper/similiar than shpg within the "continental u.s.a. )

Btw is Alaska considered "continental u.s.a.",   even though to ship there using u.s. shippers ya have to do air (or ship) !    I presume in this case Bachmann consumers in AS would not have the standard  "ground" classification.

Surprisingly,  NOT even costco (up here) has their occasional ho scale set.

Found the box from TW on the stoop when back from shopping.
Obviously Postie knows we're in town,  and no add. taxes owing so she left it.

Haven't opened yet but for such a large box it sure is a lite unit (had noticed wt. previously on spec. pg.)  !

Will let ya know in future how the unit runs, etc.

Ordered some of the inexpensive parts (@20%off) including  extra 4 snowplow screws {823XX-10548} which are said within George's tech pgs. and elsewhere,  to be the ones to tighten up the engine mount !?

Large / Re: 4-6-0, circus #49, chassis upgrade ?

Thanks  Bill !

Further after reading your versions post on other (olde) thread; http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,7062.0.html

I rolled #49 in hand,  saw a hump midline btwn rear drivers,   grabbed rear driver wheel and (subsequently mid' un)  in attempt to turn  . . . . would not turn  so presume a version 4 (or seized up) !?   Time for a  'place on track and power up' test.   lol

anyways did place an order for another chassis plus other various parts ;)

This one popped up in a "version 5" search in hopes of defining which would be a applicable chassis.

I noticed & printed the page with Bill's  version definitions !

Also further into this thead, reminded about George's tech pages on the Big Hauler which I might have printed off sections 'ways-back-when'  :)

THANK You !!

Large / 4-6-0, circus #49, chassis upgrade ?
October 28, 2013, 07:11:23 PM
Would chassis cat. listed CH-90047 (which i presume at 50usd) would be metal side rods & upgraded nether regions, (since over a decade ago the original #49 was built) be compatible  ?

According to their cat'  further into it the shell is  "Model: 900XX-LS-90020 ".

Hearing about their 20% sale till the 2nd has me looking  (also at what I maybe/should buy as spares from the RailTruck dept., as i do now have a unit heading this way)

Thank you for any info/input !

doug c

p.s. this loco plus tender actually has never been run !

Thanks for the info about 'recent' run being a lot better than earliest (?)

Yes I did not mention that source and value  'cause last time i did,  a thread got either locked down or disappeared.
