Thomas & Friends / Re: N Scale Bachmann Thomas

well you guys - with the amount of interest shown in this thread Bachmann would be silly not to manufacture Thomas in N scale . it would be a top seller - the only contender is Tomix and they are hard to get even when new and largely over scale .

my request is for a walking talking full DCC  ''Sir Topem Hat'' .

I was wondering if Bachmann has taken the Tomix  Thomas range over for N scale ???
if so lets hope it is re-scaled .

best bet - as any good hobby shop usually has is a oval test track 0/H0/N/Z on a board the size of the 0 scale circle with other scales inwards . Forget rolling road except running in .
as mentioned above a split gear - and its not only older loco's , common on to-days products - if only Bachmann would sort out the problem .

my system use Hornby Elite and Select walk around for control , and I run Bachmann DCC an Sound fitted locos in N scale with no problems . although the Hornby system may not be able to alter some makers CV's .
for instance if running multi loco's , say Bachmann FA units and you want the rear loco to run backwards the Hornby control wont let you - so I set the forward/reverse using a Bachmann EZ DCC  , also you may have fun with MRC decoders CV's.

sorry I don't know about decoders but - as far as I recall inside the Bachmann box (on the end tab ?) you will see a number stamped on - say 180514 this is read backwards and is the date of manufacture of loco or passenger/freight cars - it was made 14-05 (May)-2018

The date code format is YYMMDD
                                    180514  is  05/14/18 or May 14, 2018

yes - now that's my way of making you learn -I do and I understand (ex primary school teacher ).

try addressing with Bachmann controller -(it will work with other makes of controller using that address)

Spooks how yes the wheels are in gauge.
Plas man thats probably a better idea then trying to machine the flanges off the wheels.
But can you  clarify which set your referring to?  The lead wheelset of each truck or the last wheelset?

I removed the outer set of wheels/axle (coupler end) the gears will not fall out . simply clip the bottom off the truck . I saved the wheels - taped to the inner under side of the plastic packing in the box for future fitting-if needed .
there may be overhang on the corners so you may need long shank coupler either on loco or cars

hope this helps

try Bachmann warranty - worst they can do is tell you to get lost  ;D
Bachmann UK returned mine twice - once to the dealer and then 2nd time to myself and admitted the fault was with the second engine axle/wheel set but could not repair because lack of parts - second time returned with missing valve gear .
it seems Bachmann UK do not honour the warranty .

the Centennial is a DO-DO (0-8-0 ----0-8-0 in steam words) , if you remove the outer axle/wheels on both trucks  and run as a CO-CO (0-6-0 --- 0-6-0 steam terms) it will traverse first radius (9 inch) , you wont loose much traction . you may have to use a long shank coupler Bachmann stockist may still sell them or have old stock .
All three of mine are done this way and work fine .
