To get to Trainworld on McDonald Ave From 48th St. walk to the 51th Street and Lexington. Line no.6 Subway toward Brooklyn Bridge. Get off at Bleeker St and Lexington, walk to Broadway and Lafayette. Take the "F" train towards Stillwell Ave get off at Ditmas Ave. Walk downstairs and cross the street to Trainworld 751 McDonald.

Luiz,

Looks like you're in luck. I just found out you'll be in walking distance to the "Red Caboose." It's a half mile from where your staying.
Walk out your door make a left turn on Park Ave (1/2 Block) Walk 3 blocks to turn right 45th Street. Walk another 3 or four blocks to 23 W 45 th.
Shucks not even far enough to take the Subway  :(. Of course you could take the Lexington Ave line South from 51st St to Grand Central and 42nd change trains. Head West to 5th.... :o  ::) Naw, it's easier to walk.

Ill give it a try...I'm from Cincinnati, but still...You might try The Red Caboose. 23 W 45th St New York, NY 10036 (212) 575-0155
They're in Manhattan too. I've used Trainworld in Brooklyn and out on Long Island for many years. Only direct contact I've had with them was at a Greenburg show at Hofstra University a few years ago. I believe both locations are accessible by subway or Long Island RR
The only hobby shop I've actually been to was Polk's Hobby's. 1 block South of the Empire State Building. That was a very long time ago.
They may still be there. Trains was on the Fourth floor I think.  You might call the Red Caboose before you go too. I kinda remember they may be on an upper floor of their building. I vaguely remember walking down the street and looking up a a hobby shop one day.
Sounds like a great time to me. I'm sorta envious...Enjoy your stay and Merry Christmas.  ;D

N / Re: New 4-6-0 Photo's and couplers

Thanks for the link to the pictures Skipgear. I wasn't very impressed with the first early pictures, but the final product looks great. Bachmann did a good job.

N / New 4-6-0 Photo's and couplers

Dear Bach-mann,

This question may have already been asked, but will the new 4-6-0 steam loco in N scale have the new magnetic couplers? Also, it's been a while since we've seen a picture of the pre-production 4-6-0, are there any photo's of the production model yet. I am looking forward to seeing it.

Thanks, Dave

N / Re: Using pink foam insallation
November 23, 2010, 01:02:09 PM
Hot glue, a small dab every few ( 6" or so) inches This may not be the best way to attach the track to the foam, but it works for me and the track is fairly easy to move without damage if you change your mind. Note: this is if you're using EZ track with roadbed. Otherwise, I'd use liquid nails adhesive to attach cork roadbed and a thin coating on the same on the track. Hold the track in place with small brads or pins until the glue is dry.

CnO,

I run two the critter's and haven't had any problems with them other than a dim headlight on my N&W Loco. (Both in analog and digital operation.) Tho tether wirs between the Loco and tender have always caused me concern just lookin at them. Of course, these may never cause a problem. Looks as if your best bet would be to send it back to Bachmann for repair if under waranty.

The Bachmann 4-6-0 may be the first mass produced "U.S." model, but certainly not in the world. Check out Bachmann's UK site and look at Graham Farish. N scale. What's surprising to me is Bachmann does't seem to share the technologies with their divisions. Graham Farish has some Gems too. I have the Jubilee and have the LNER B1 on order. Dapol in Wales, UK, Fleischmann and Trix also mass produce fine N scale 4-6-0's

N / Re: An N scale K4 in the works

You're correct Skipgear, thank you for the correction.
I was refering to the Pennsylvania E-6 4-4-2 Atlantics and the L-1 2-8-2 Mikado steam locomotives.

Hello in-edan,

I may be wrong, but didn't the Pennsy own the B&O at one time? I kinda remember someone telling me the B&O actually had an E-6 or two or three. (Maybe wishful thinking, or looking at the new Lionel catalog with their B&O E-6) Any who, I wouldn't be too offended myself being a B&O fan too. Having a K-4 with B&O on the side. I buy what ever N scale steam I think is appropriate or can get away with.
I have a Heavy Mountain in N&W and can see what your saying about the T class. It's so close I'm surprised Bachmann hasn't lettered a Heavy mountain for the T-3. No matter, a plain old K-4 in Penn would serve me well. And just think the boiler could be used for at lease 5 road numbers of L-1 mikado's.

If your looking for the 19" radius check MB Klein http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/category_s/1001.htm they currently have 19" and the new 17.5" radius available. N scale Supply is another good source on the internet. I've used both with good results.

N / Re: What's new Bachmann?
August 16, 2010, 12:10:59 PM
I'm beginning to believe it will be a while. Maybe Bachmann and the other manufactures are thinking the other one is working on it so one on will for fear of over product duplication.

N / Re: New auto coupler and Graham Farish
August 16, 2010, 12:07:48 PM
Thanks you keithwarltier for your comments on the new coupler. I went ahead and placed a preorder for the new SO region Mk1 carriages anyway. I'll have to switch out the couplers later. I'm just not too happy with the idea of switching them out on a class 24 diesel. I The cars, I'm thinking, shouldn't be too hard. if all else fails with the diesel. I think I'll remove the rapido and connect the the loco with the brake second with a large staple to represent the screw/hook coupling. (Just kidding here, although somewhat prototypical.)

What I am surprised about with this posting is the while you able to help my question. Bachmann was only able to refer us to the UK site. That's fine, but I would think with as large a "Global" company as Kader is they don't seem to have a customer service Liason who is knowledgeable across the various product lines. The level of questions in this forum is not so great in my opinion that a simple question concerning a product that seems to share engineering couldn't be answered without passing it on to the other group. The old right foot doesn't know what the left...Any way. that's only my opinion. No matter when the NEM version is introduced, I extremely happy Bachmann is and am grateful.

Thaks again keithwarltier, and all who comented.

N / New auto coupler and Graham Farish
August 03, 2010, 12:11:09 PM
You've told us that the new automatic couplerwill be installed in many of the new US Loco's and cars soon. Do you or anyone else reading this forum know when to expect the first Graham Farish UK models equipped with them? I have a Deltic  on order and am interested purchasing a few more to be released UK items. I haven't heard anything more about them with the G.F. line.
Thanks.

I don't think I should need to consider swapping out a tender on a new locomotive. The manufacture should have done it right from the start. I agree with Williamson.
These loco's are too expensive a commodity to have to FIX the manufactures shortcomings! Do it right the first time or don't do it!
