I have two of these and im still thinking of where to put them! They are quite massive really. As they should be for O gauge trains. Im thinking about how I could cut them down as I think they look too tall for On30.

Any ideas?

Thanks for that. I just have to get one! :D It is just the thing I need for my Gnomy tram. With a DCC socket I just cant say no.

The headlight with switch will be very usefull aswell.

But what to do with they body... It looks On30 size aswell.

I am currently making a logging an mining layout loosely based on operations in west verginia. Possibly conecting with the B&O somewhere like the Elk river NG railroad did.

The decoder is in the Tender. You can have a look if you get the coal load out (might be a bit tight like mine, dont worry, nothing broke).

This means it would be easier to just use its current decoder for something else and install a digitrax sound decoder instaid. As there is plenty of room.

Well, thats my plan anyway.

I am going to convert the same loco into On30. With one of these kits:

http://hometown.aol.com/dallastrains/KD06-1.html (the top kit)

However the body wouldnt look the same as you are suggesting. So if Bachmann made one, I would buy one!

I think Bachmann sould make a proper diesel. As they have never done one before. Apart from the gas mech but that is only for shunting ops.

Thats sounds like a very good idea. You could use the EZ DCC controller aswell as they use addresses from 1 to 10. It wouldnt cost that much compaired to the spectrum sound loco's eather.

They could just have a blank ESU or soundtraxx sound decoder, then program it with sounds from HIT (as bachmann have that conection with the licence) so it would sound just like the engines of TV.

It would be a really interactive experience for children, and if that doesnt get people into model railroads at an early age I dont know what will.

I think people might find this missleading. As it is not the Bachmann model. But if it looks like that when it comes out. I will buy more than one.  :P

Nice to see some people are building Ivor. As I think I could relate to it more than thomas as I always went on holidays to "the top left hand corner of wales" to ride on the railways there.

I would like to make a model of Ivor, but sadly I think it would be to small and fiddly to make scale size in OO and DCC chipping would be very hard to do.

Maybe I should make it in O gauge then...   ;D

Bear, what you said was needed. It does get on my nerves the 1 page topics of question and awnser.Couldnt people just email the Bachmann or PM him?

If I ask questions its so that I get a range of awnsers from differnt people. Like "what do you think of the new bachmann Emily, and should I get one" etc.

I think a stickey thred on rules would be a good idea and such important threds normally get lost in the sea of question threds.

On the other hand, this forum is called 'Ask The Bach-Mann'.

Thank you for the pictures. I think you have just sold me into buying a 4-4-0. :P

Just a question for the future, what size speaker did you use in your 4-4-0?

Also I have to say you have a very nice layout.

Max,
According to my data, the Climax is 7 1/2  " long

Its 6 inches from wheel to wheel. Which is what I need to know so the wheel can clear the point. Not the body.

therentster, Some pictures would be great. I also have a sound Forney. I might get another one (outside framed) depending on how things go.

Another thing worth thinking about. How easy would you recon fitting it with sound would be? As im guessing the tender is alot smaller than the 2-8-0 I am buying a sound decoder for. If so I could get both decoders from paul the same day.

Yes I know, this is adding up to alot of money/stuff. But one its my birthday next week and two, its just a yearly blow out.  :P
