This is max speed with the LENZ Gold JST decoder installed and programmed. Any way to make the decoder think it can generate more speed ? track voltage shows 13.87 VAC DCC
thanks in advance

The DCC System is MRC Prodigy advance 2

HO / Lenz decoder
March 12, 2010, 04:40:12 PM
this was my second venture in DCc land. My first one was a CC ready Bachmann Northern 4-8-4. For the Decapod I got a Lenz decoder without much thought bout sound. The instruction sheed mentions a sound card but I need a S.U.S.I. interface and I must admit ignorance as to what that means. Thanks in advance

HO / Model RR club folding (update )
February 05, 2010, 04:05:54 PM
BEMRRC here in Seattle is reduced to storage at local facility costing a bunch of money. Unlike a model airplane club where you just take your airplane somewhere else, a rr club requires a permanent facility with assurance of longevity. Sad an accurate rendition of Pacific NOrthwest railroading has been scrapped and only images remain of the glory days.

HO / Model RR club shutting down....maybe
October 22, 2009, 03:34:14 PM
The Boeing Employees Model Rail Road Club may be shutting down as the company downsizes and shes assets. Need a place to resume operations and that is hard to find here in the NW. Similar fate as the Boeing Employees Midel Airplane club. The average age of the council operating the club is rapidly increasing (most members are retired )  :(

HO / should have asked a long time ago
June 13, 2009, 12:29:25 PM
Is it possible for the manufacturers of model steam engines to build a box where the foam dividers are cut in a way we cah store the locomotives and tenders together after assenbly and attaching the wires ?

HO / 2-10-2 don't do it
June 03, 2009, 11:54:03 PM
if you are an old guy like me with sorta good eyes don't dissassemble a fime machine like a 2-10-2. I managed to wedge in a small screw in the works and to find it, i had to take the body off. there is a silver lining, i know now where all the wires go. And finding a black screw in a black locomotive is a work of art. ;D

HO / multiple decoder types on track
May 12, 2009, 12:16:03 PM
I have a 2-10-0 Decapod, a 2-6-6-2 articulated with a LENZ decoder and a 4-8-4 and a 4-8-2 on the track at the same time. The parameters for these decoders are different ( ex Top Voltage of the LENZ is set at 255 and the Top Voltage on the MRC is 32. Even set at max, the locomotives run slow except for the 4-8-4 gallops like a horse. Is it really a decoder mix problem ?
DATA - I have the MRC Prodigy Advance 2 system drivint the " git-up "

and all subject locomotives are stored in one cab along with the rest of the fleet not listed.

HO / I have an opinion and it is not pretty
May 03, 2009, 01:17:50 AM
Perhaps the model railroad companies that design/specify DCC components and use them, would not use wiring that acts like spring steel wires. Is stranded copper not possible with soft coatings, instead of what appears to be stiiff plastic ?

When you have two locomotives pulling ( and assuming they are both capable of the same traction force ) what is more efficient / the front one pulling harder of the aft one pushing harder ?

HO / MRC 1629
April 16, 2009, 07:37:00 PM
Gotta ask. the "packaged by the factory" MRC # 1629 sound decoder is no clothes on. The printed board is not protected by shrinkwrap, as i had expected. Do I need to do this, for it seems obvious to me, I should but .....the factory didn't ? Does it get very hot during operations ?
