Randy-

Since Bachmann seems to have gone to an all DCC product line, at least for new offerings, I think you can count on seeing lights on all new locos in the future.

Excellent idea on their part, about time a major player moved into the new millenium.

Thanks Bachmann.

Either way, I am still buying one but I will have to buy a short tender to go with it now. I think we still have a slope back or Short USRA on the shelf at the shop. Anybody want to buy a Standard USRA tender when these come in? I am over-flowing with them.

Here is one more reason not to let the Spectrum Tenders run out of stock. I forsee a bunch of shorties being sold once these arrive.

Now there is an idea right from the marketing room's conference table.

Supply the loco with a tender that is not correct and the customers will buy the correct one separately.

Sure hope Bachmann does not think like that.

Thank You Mr. Bach-Man.

After reading your latest product announcements, I am looking forward to the DCC equipped 4-6-0.

Finaly a small steamer equipped with DCC.

I am looking forward to the day when ALL new locos are DCC equipped.
It will make running trains easier.

DC is like the cathode ray TV or an audio cassette tape or VHS tape, it is an idea that has passed its time.

The new series decoders from NCE, Digitrax and Lenz are really small.

Size: 0.34" x 0.56" x 0.125" or less.

They will fit in your slopeback tenders.

N / DCC Equipped or DCC Ready
January 03, 2010, 07:51:43 AM
Do you think we will ever see Bachmann releasing a DCC Equipped or DCC Ready small steamer?

How about reisuing some of your current line with either sockets or decoders installed.

Was thinking about the 4-4-0, 2-8-0 and 0-6-0 steamers.

I personally am not into British Rail, but would love to see the 4-6-0 with an American chassis.

Maybe some younger fellows would like the Harry Potter train better.
It might get younger folks into railroading.

N / Jackson Excursion Car

I just recieved 2 Jackson Sharp Open-Sided Excursion Cars.

They look really good, but out of the box they are almost useless... they will not couple up to each other.  ???

Now I have to go buy working couplers and do some kitbashing before I can use them on my layout.    :'(

I can see your points, you fellows who model in the giant scales cannot put a prototypical building on a layout.

But those of us in N scale have that luxury.

The only trees I would "buy" are what I would call showcase trees, one tree alone in the yard of a house. Maybe the first row of trees at the edge of a forested area.

For background trees, or to represent the canopy of a grove of trees, I would go with natural products. A group of seedum makes a great canopy. Just put a row of good looking trees out front, and some ground scrub underneath and there you have it.

I disagree. My girl friend will leave me if I move the computer to the bathroom.

I thought that is why they invented laptops....

General Discussion / Tree Sizes
March 25, 2009, 04:46:07 PM
Is it just me or do manufacturers make their trees too short.

not to pick on Bachmann, cause every one does it, but...
here is their breakdown in N Scale feet:

N Scale:
Conifers 50-55'
Deciduous 40'

HO Scale:
Conifers 80'
Deciduous 50-55'

O Scale:
Conifers 135'
Deciduous 65-104'

Now up here in Canada, mature Conifers average about 90' - 130' (O Scale)

Decisuous trees average 60-100' (HO scale)

I wish manufactures would market trees in sizes and just include a chart...

"The trees in this package are 4" in height, that would be 16' in O scale,  29' in HO and 40' in N scale.

Then the buyer can make up their own mind what size fits with what they are doing.

N / Re: N Scale E-Z MateĀ® Couplers

I agree, when you add the expense of new couplers and the hassle of converting, several other brand names seem more appealing to purchase.

The only thing I have bought from Bachmann have been the steam engines.

However, I now have 2 out of my 4 Standard 4-4-0 units to return.
The only good one I have is my Spectrum 2-8-0, it is by far the best unit I have.

Interesting to see that most requests are for Steamers...

Goes to show you we are overloaded on Deisels and shy of steamers.

NCE makes a very small decoder, their Z14SR and Z14SRP are excellent decoders.

I too vote for the box up and store method.

I too was a modeler in my teens, Father had a layout.

But then when I moved out and my parents moved to an apartment, they offered me the train stuff, I was in unniversity and in a small apartment, I foolishly said "No thank you".

Well, he sold the stuff...

Now years later, both my father and I are back into it.
He moved from the condo to a small house with full basement...

I moved from small apartment into large 2 bedroom apartment and had room for a layout.

we both kicked ourselves that we sold the stuff years ago as there were lots of memories there.
