N / Re: 2-8-0 sound died ?
December 18, 2023, 09:13:52 AM
Hi propmeup,

Are you using a DC or DCC system? If you're using DCC it's possible you may have just muted the sounds by accident with function 8. This would be the first and easiest troubleshooting step to try before checking the internals of your 2-8-0.

General Discussion / Re: Hogwarts 4-6-0
December 18, 2023, 09:10:00 AM
Hi lifeguarder,

The Hogwarts Express locomotive is a completely unique model based on a British design. The chassis and parts from the American Baldwin 4-6-0 will not fit it.

By "engine" are you referring to the motor? The Hogwarts Express section of our website shows we don't have the specific motor for the locomotive in stock, but if you contact the service department they can check if they have a similar motor from another locomotive that will fit. They can also help you troubleshoot just to check that there isn't a quick fix that can be done without a motor replacement.

Hi Brian,

Please send an email to service@bachmanntrains.com. They can check your warranty status and advise you on getting your E-Z Command repaired or replaced.

Hi ACDC,

Following up on your thread about the Thunder Valley, your 63552 is the pre-redesign version of our N scale GP40, so it probably was unused new old stock. You can contact our service department for more troubleshooting.
#35
Hi ACDC,

The GP40 locomotives that come in our N scale sets were not designed to be DCC Ready. You may still be able to fit a decoder inside the body shell, but it will be a tight fit and they do not have a plug receptacle.

Does the cover on the underbody (the fuel tank) you mention have holes in it? If it does, you have our redesigned GP40 and that space is the speaker enclosure. You can place a speaker in the fuel tank if you do a sound decoder installation (and our DCC Sound Value GP40 already is equipped with one.) If there are no holes, you have an older version of the GP40 that is not DCC compatible.

Also, we do have the same redesigned GP40 available in separate sale, you can refer to this listing for more information.

Hi rockcandy,

We are out of stock of the B&O F7 shell but we have other roadnames available here:

We don't have any GP7 shells at the moment.

HO / Re: GE 44 tonner
December 01, 2023, 11:15:32 AM
Hi bapguy,

The DCC Sound GE 44 Ton switcher is scheduled to ship early next year. We have had to push back the arrival a few times due to lots of development and technical changes to fit a sound decoder and speaker into such a small locomotive. But trust us, it will be worth the wait!

HO / Re: Re: Question for the Bachman

Hi Sawyer,

We recommend you contact the Service Department first. They'll be able to first help you troubleshoot to determine if there is in fact a decoder issue or if there is another problem. They can then assist you with repairs or ordering parts.

Hi Basstrombone1,

Our current HO E-Z Track Turntable (item no. 46298) can be used on an analog layout. Even though the package says DCC, the appropriate switch and wires are included in the box for analog layout setup.

There is also a previous version of the turntable (item no. 46299) that has been discontinued, that was designed for analog operation only.

We use proprietary decoders for our DCC locomotives without sound. Our sound decoders are sourced from either TCS or Soundtraxx.

We can contact our factory and see if they can produce the non sound decoders for spare parts, however with production lead times they will not be available immediately.
#41
Hi Denny,

We're sorry you've had some bad luck with our N scale DCC locomotives. We do not have spare N scale decoders available in our parts department, but aftermarket decoders are available from manufacturers such as Soundtraxx, TCS, ESU, and Digitrax.

This position has now been filled.

Hi Ttrain,

A couple of questions to make sure you get the best advice. Do you know what scale the train set is, or can you describe how large it is? Do you have any boxes or instruction manuals that have a name or item number on them? Different scales and different brands of train sets may have different wiring setups.

Hi Andrew,

Sounds like you have a Bachmann Branchline locomotive. For best results, we recommend you contact Bachmann Europe customer support directly. Please note that this forum is administrated by Bachmann Trains USA. While there may be a member able to assist you, Bachmann Trains USA as a company does not provide support for Bachmann Europe products.

E-Z App / Re: Which locomotives are EZ-app compatible?
November 14, 2023, 10:01:12 AM
Quote from: jward on November 13, 2023, 07:03:48 PMJust for clarification, doesn't EZ App operate as an overlay on DCC powered track? You should be able to control an EZ App locomotive via the app independently of the DCC system.
Correct, you can still operate E-Z App independently on both an analog or DCC layout. But pure DCC locomotives cannot be controlled with the E-Z App, as Markakis was asking.
