HO / 15" radius curves
December 01, 2007, 02:14:57 PM
Does anyone know what angle of curvature is for the 15" radius curves.  For example, the 18" r curves are equal to 30 degrees each piece, making three to be used for 90 degree curves.  Are the 15" r curved pieces the same as 18" r, or do they have some other degree of curvature?
Thank you,

HO / Re: Next DCC Function
November 21, 2007, 08:06:12 PM
     And I thought I had a new idea. :( :(

Gene,
The only reason I would want to know how much it would cost is if I were planning to build one.

HO / Next DCC Function
November 20, 2007, 08:58:43 PM
I have given this a lot of thought and I think that in addition to sound, there should be a function for uncoupling cars from the engines.  It would require a geared coupler box and coupler, but I think it would be awesome.  At least for the time being, restrict it to the locomotive, but maybe sometime expand it for uncoupling cars in the middle of the train.

Anyway, this is just my idea.  Anyone else have an idea for a new function? 8)

My faces on Percy and James easily come off.  Any solution to keep them on, permanently.

Thomas & Friends / Island of Sodor is Expanding
November 02, 2007, 09:05:39 PM
     Hi all,
I've just purchased Percy and the two trublesome trucks on Ebay.  Though I haven't received them yet, they will expand my 'Island of Sodor' dramatically.  Actually, they are my first Thomas the Tank Engine characters in the realm of modeling.  Quite truthfully, it's kind of hard to expand if you have nothing to expand.

This EBAY store is one of my favorites, and it is an official distributor of Bachmann:
The Favorite Spot

Enjoy ;)

General Discussion / Modeling locations

This post is for locations of fellow modelers.  For security purposes, just give the city of which you live.  I'll start:
I am new to model railroading and live in Geneva, IN.

With the regular power pack, you can run 10 DCC locos and 1 non-DCC.

Yes you can run 10 locos, BUT you would need to have a regular Bachmann power pack properly connected.

Are they curved or straight pieces?

Are both the numbers on the same pieces?

The walk-around-companion can be used in two ways.  It can be plugged directly to the E-Z Command, and used as a secondary controler. With the connector panel plugged into the E-Z Command, you can place connections all around your layout.  Then you can use the walk-around-companion from any one of the additional connections.

Now, to answer your question, the walk-around companion is plugged into the E-Z Command control center, whether direcly or via the connector panel.  Addresses 1-10 on the walk-around companion is the same addresses 1-10 on the E-Z Command control center.

The E-Z Command controls all power to the track.  The walk-around companion alows you to do all the regular functions without touching the E-Z Command.

Example:
You are controling the E-Z Command, and a friend is controling the walk-around.  You can control locomotive address 1 while your friend controls the one on address 5.  Whatever changes your friend makes for speed on address 5 will automatically set on the E-Z Command, even though you are controling address 1.  If your friend decides to unplug and move to another connector panel, locomotive on address 5 will continue moving because the speed is set in the E-Z Command.  Your friend may decide to start operating locomotive 7.  Now you can take control of 5 if you so desire.

Basically it means addresses 1-10 will always be 1-10.  By having the walk-around does NOT add 10 additional addresses.

I hope I answered your question.

Thomas & Friends / Train sets

Do the Bachmann Thomas the Tank Engine train sets come with the steel track on black roadbed or the nickel silver track on gray roadbed?
Thank you

HO / Re: Indiana Midwestern RR

     I don't really care.
If it's Indiana, it'll work.  Who knows, I might just combine them all in one layout. :D NOT

HO / Indiana Midwestern RR

I am interested in finding all the railroad names dealing with Indiana. (predominately, with Indiana in the name)  I don't believe there is an Indiana Midwestern (I made up this name. ;D ), But I am wanting real railroad names.  I can only think of these two:

Indiana Harbor Belt
Muncie & Western

Please, I want to add to the list.
Thank you

Gene did not say five letters in a row, he just said five letters.  Anything you buy that comes in letters always has more than one of each letter, because some words just happen to require more than one of a certain letter.
