Hunt, do you have any reason to believe there will be more than just one speaker in the tender?

Large / 4-6-0 with New Tender

https://shop.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=255_433_1119&products_id=6943&zenid=509lmj1q9u4ot18rrh9oskq2p0

"The 4-6-0 is now available in a DCC- and Sound-Ready version that features an advanced nonproprietary plug-and-play circuit board to accommodate the control system of your choice, including conventional DC power, NMRA/NEM DCC, and/or RC operation.  Equipped with factory-installed speakers, it is ready for the addition of plug-and-play prototypical sound. (Plug-and-Play Sound Module available separately for sound-on-board performance.) It also features metal gears, a new tender, operating headlight, smoke, metal siderods, separate piping, and all metal handrails."

The Bach-man,
Verify the above product description is accurate (no misprints).

Also,
1) Identify the type and number of  factory-installed speakers.

2) Who makes the DCC decoder and Sound Module, SoundTraxx, TCS (Train Control Systems)?

3) Provide links to the documentation/manuals/instructions for the DCC decoder and Sound Module.

. . .

Bachmann N Scale EZ Track turnouts used to be power routing, not sure they still are.

. . .

Depends on when the Bachmann N-gauge turnout produced.

Since early 2012 Bachmann N-gauge turnouts are all routes-live type. Prior to that time, all Bachmann N-gauge turnouts are power-routing type.

UPDATE - I did receive a rather unhelpful response from Bachmann Tech Support this afternoon.  They said "Please download the WowSound decoder with electric sounds for list at this time.
Please google TCS Wowsound decdoers."

Not terribly helpful as I was already using the electric sounds (ACS-64 decoder definition) and I thoroughly searched Google before reaching out to Bachmann, TCS or posting here.  So the saga continues.  I will post updates here when/if I discover anything of interest related to this concern.

Click Here The content of this TCS document contradicts the reference to use "WowSound decoder with electric sounds" you received from Bachmann.

After more discussion with TCS, perhaps with additional accurate information you will conclude to leave F8 as is.

N / Re: Attaching N Scale track

No need to attach track to the foam board for a temporary layout.

If you feel you must attach the track -- use very small drop of Elmer's Washable School Glue at a few places around the layout. Wet the glued spots with warm water when you want to remove the track.

"...and improving our E-Z Command system."

I wonder if the will mean ading the ability to read & program CV's besides the address?

Len

Observe since 2016,

  • No changes to the E-Z Command Control Center capabilities.
  • The addition of Bachmann factory installed full feature OEM TCS (Train Control System) WOW decoders to some Bachmann models.  This allows CV programming using the TCS decoder's Audio Assist programmer when using the E-Z Command Control Center

PLUS...

Bluetooth project has been dormant except for release of some locomotive models and train sets factory equipped with the with the E-Z App circuit board.  No circuit board or firmware upgrades.   The E-Z App circuit board has been added to online parts.

Link to the E-Z AppĀ® User Guide https://e-zapptraincontrol.com/ does not contain what it is supposed to. Looks like it may have been hacked.

This has been called to my attention,
Quote from: Gary Allen on October 10, 2020, 11:47:26 AM
I'm getting ready to purchase a second train.  My layout contains 5 turnouts and 2 crossovers.  I want to control one train while my grandson controls the other.  I want each of us to be able to control the turnouts and crossovers.  It appears the only way to provide this functionality is via the Dynamis Pro System which appears to be a standard Dynamis System with the Pro equipment added on.  I now see that there is a Dynamis Ultima System that combines both and adds additional capability.  But it appears to be available only in Europe.  Does anyone have any info on this system?  Will it be made available in the US?

Q: Will it  be made available in the US?

A: NO --- Not unless Bachmann USA changes its 2016 decision.  Bachmann's ANSWER in 2016, "Just a business decision on our part. Dynamis was a product developed by Bachmann U.K. and we gave it a try. The U.S. market is not as accepting of infrared systems as the European market is. Bachmann is currently focusing on other control system projects such as Bluetooth and improving our E-Z Command system. The new Dynamis product will make it's way here via online dealers and the online marketplace."

Q: Does anyone have any info on this system?

A: Click Here   Dynamis Ultima DCC System With Evaluation RailController.  Product description and link to product document, Bachmann Europe Plc website.

note: This system uses infrared thus requiring unblocked line of sight between throttle on command station or control is lost.

Suggest you consider a DCC system from NCE or Digitrax if you are going to require lots of How-To-Use  product support.

Large / Re: Question on DCC 0-4-0 Davenport

If the PCB is wired correctly by Bachmann the smoke generator current requirement is not an issue.

We know it is common for decoder function output limit to be 100mA of current and this is not enough power to operate the smoke generator directly.  We can deuce from the Davenport DCC Wiring Connection drawing  the smoke generator is either  wired to the track pickups or to the motor outputs with relay and diode in circuit making the  decoder function output just an on and off control for the smoke generator.

Need to wait until the MRC Prodigy Elite is being used and is still an issue focus on why the headlight cannot be controlled.

I am off doing other things, so it will be awhile before I read this thread again.

I did hook things up according to the DCC wiring diagram.  The decoder I installed was a 1amp decoder from Bachmann #44915.  At the moment I am using a Bachmann Dynamis system, but I recently upgraded to a MRC Prodigy Elite which I'm currently waiting on to arrive.

Select forward direction. With the locomotive stopped,  what happens to the headlight brightness level when you press F7?

Got another question.  I installed a decoder in Bachmann's 0-4-0 Porter and noticed that the headlight comes on, but you can't turn it off.  It's not a big deal, but I'm just wondering if it means I wired something in wrong?  In addition to that, I can't seem to have any control turning the smoke unit off.  I noticed that the smoke units on my Lyn and Davenport aren't even turning on, but those have the plug in boards.  Anyone know anything on this issue?

It is one turnout control only.
