I have a 6 stall roundhouse.  What system do you all use to know which engine, is in which stall; to acquire a loco?  The house is too far to actually see into to read the numbers.  I have decals on the fixed open doors and inbound tracts for operators to choose.

Dear Board,
Has anyone changed the lights in one of these locos?  I want to just swap out the YELLOW LEDS for WHITE ones.  I do not know if there is a specific LED needed.  I would think I could just clip off the old and solder on new ones.  Anyone know if the PCB would support that?

HO / Bachmann Gp 40 shell compatability
September 21, 2011, 11:00:51 AM
I have been given a OLD Bachmann gp40 that runs great.  I run DCC exclusively on my pike, and will need to convert it so.  It is not a good puller, and has the truck type horn hook couplers that all need replaced.  The problem is it is the single power truck type from 1980... something.  It had not been run, but and does work well.  I would like to just put the shell on a new DCC installed one, but need to know if it will work, before purchasing a undecorated one.  the loco has no number on the box.  No road number either.  (So cannot reference it!)  It is a "GOLD"  UP EMD GP-40.  It was part of a set that also was not used.

I was not aware that the UP ever had any engines that were NOT painted in the Armour yellow.

HO / HO shay lube oil type
July 03, 2011, 09:28:11 AM
What oil should I use with plastic to metal gears, as with the Shay.  I use the Hob-E Lube system, from Woodland Scenics.  I had to replace the entire side frames on this loco due to the gearing problem.  I am hoping to be more attentive on the maintenance part of the hobby!!
Thanks ,

Dear All,
Does anyone know what lettering is on these units?  I need to re-letter one to change the NUMBERS.  I think it is SILVER 1/8 inch numbers, but I do not know what font to order.  Mr. Bachmann might be able to find out....
Thanks for the help.

HO / Take apart DCC On board 0-6-0 Standard???
April 30, 2011, 09:36:30 AM
I have now installed DZ125 decoders into 2 0-6-0 standard line engines.

Thanks for the parts from RICHG!!

The DCC ON BOARD one that I have......  Has a ugly decoder in the CAB!!

I want to take this apart, and reinstall a DZ125 decoder.  The problem is when I try to take the boiler off, something is still holding it on....

Are the wires,  that go into the cab to decoder, UNDER the boiler?  Or through it?

Has anyone actually taken this NEW unit apart?
Mr. Bachmann, can you ask the powers that be??!!
Thanks, hotrainlover

HO / 4-8-4 Diagram (old standard line)
April 16, 2011, 08:46:24 AM
Dear Mr. Bachmann,
Where can I download the diagram for this engine?  All the ones in the site are newer than the one I have.  Mine does NOT have any connections to the tender.  I want to install DCC, and need to take it apart.
Thanks for the help!

(PS:  If anyone has this diagram, please email it to me at the address listed on here.)

General Discussion / Making water areas 0f 6 feet
July 26, 2010, 03:06:16 PM
With all the experience here on the board....

I finally am to the stage of pouring my "Water" for the harbor scene.  I have approximately a 6 foot section that need s to be covered with water.....
I have bridges and piers, that I will need to pour around.  Do any of these products make it Impossible to re-use the bridges (if I want to "save" then for a future redo)?

What has everyone used for a Large area for water?  I (think) have 3 choices: Realistic Water, Ez water, and Magic Water....

What are the pros and cons, from others that have used these products?  (I ask here, since Bachmann DOES NOT offer and water in their scenery choices.)

What AWG is decoder wire?  Does any one know where is the best place to buy this wire, in multiple colors?  This wire is great for use in DCC/sound installs.

Thanks for the help!

HO / HO Shay sound instalation
April 05, 2010, 05:20:10 PM
I have successfully installed a Soundtraxx Micro Tsunami sound decoder in this Shay!!  It sounds, and works beautifully.  One question....

If anyone HAS already done this before, how did you fit ALL the wires and decoder into the space of the tender?  I need about 1/4 inch more height to get the shell to fit right!

Thomas & Friends / Thomas sounds
March 23, 2010, 04:17:51 AM
Mr. Bachmann,
Where do I find down loadable Actual "Thomas" sounds?  I would like to put a sound decoder in my HO Thomas engine, and have the visitors hear him talk.  (Like "I think I can...." and others)
Has anyone made this idea happen before?

Thanks for the help!!

February 21, 2010, 04:34:23 PM
Mr. Bachmann,
What was announced at the Toy fair?

I have a HO scale Standard Bachmann FT unit.  It has a SOLID chassis that I think picks up power from one rail.  The power for the other rail is from the trucks.  Has anyone put a decoder in these.  The engine is from the Challenger set #00621.

HO / Spectrum 0-6-0 saddle tank with DCC-on-Board
November 28, 2009, 07:52:17 PM
Has anyone purchased one of these engines?  I have the DCC ready one, that I installed a DZ123 decoder into.  It runs fantastic, and would like another!!

Are there any pros, or cons that I need to know?  I want to ask Santa for one!  Does it have a decoder W/8 pin connector, or have a "board" type one?
Thanks for the help!!

HO / fiber optic size for Doodlebug maker lights
October 18, 2009, 09:32:42 PM
Dear board,
I plan to use fiber optic strands to put lighting in my maker lights, on the Bachmann Doodlebug.  Has anyone tried this?  If so, what size hole/mm strand should I use ?  Thanks for the help.
By the way, I found colored 1mm gen stones that are cheap, and self stick.  I purchased them at Hobby Lobby.
Thanks for the help!

Has anyone used these panels as panels for the EZ-Command walk-around companion?  WILL it work with the Bachmann system?

Sure looks the same.
