Thomas & Friends / Re: Future suggestions/predict...

I'd imagine if Bachmann were to produce UK buffer stops, they'd be attached to a section of EZ Track like their existing track bumpers are. As long as they're removable to use on standard track, I'll be happy.

As for signals, I think it'd be a good idea if Bachmann started with a single one and a junction signal (two separate signals for two tracks on the same post). I would certainly be happy with those to start with. They could later expand with distant signals and other variations. These would also appeal to British Railway modelers that live in the US- not only Thomas fans.

To my surprise I saw Bachmann had these in stock..."Wow" I said. I have two engines waiting on gear repair which is a repair I reviewed and determined I could not do. The cost was $28.00 (each set) which I thought was worth that amount to get an engine on the track so I purchased one set...

Agreed. At the very least, UK styled buffers and signals would be good. I doubt buildings would be made, though snap-fit kits would probably be the best route if they did, and if we got some, I'd like to see Ffarquhar station as one.

Mainly from looking at photos on Bachmann parts website.
Starting with this video on Youtube (A Brief Look at the Improved Bachmann G Scale 4-6-0 Front) by RkyGriz.
If you watch carefully you can see that in the new drawbar truck, the axles of the pilot wheels are clearly visible from above.
In the old pivoting truck, the axles are covered by the plastic truck's frame. So you don't see axles from above.
Now go to Bachmann parts store and look at pictures of 90037 and 90040 assemblies.
You can see the axles from above on the pilot trucks, suggesting drawbar pilot truck.
Another data point is the Underframe at the parts store, it has the pivot point structure.
Looks to me like all the older V5 and below chassis, underframes, pilot trucks are sold out and gone for good......

Bill, I think your ID "chart" is great, but it relies on almost all mechanical and physical descriptions (i.e. humps and plugs). As electronics has entered both the Annie and Standard lines, its worthwhile to add descriptive features about the electronics and capabilities.  Like the Standard V5B (if 90037/40 are V5B) now contains a PCB that supports only a limited set of features (i.e. no rear tender headlight) and different implementations (i.e. optical chuff sensor vs. older "drum" sensor)
Just my observations as I wasn't sure what constituted a V5B and when/why it came about.

Quote from: wraujr on November 12, 2025, 08:15:17 AMcontains two long brass strips, left and right
The older models had the strips connected to the chassis with a push-in plug, so that you could completely remove the bottom plate.
Maybe one of yours is loose?

So how sure are we that the chassis has the drawbar front truck.  I have not seen one yet.  I am ready to identify it as a 5B.

General Discussion / Bachmann Alaska RR GP40 coupl...
Last post by TallTomNJ - November 12, 2025, 02:41:30 PM
I have a Bachmann N gauge Alaska RR GP40 loco, part number 63569.  Trying to convert to MT couplers. The conversion charts seem to recommend 1134 (001 33 031), but the pictures of the kit do not appear to be what's needed.  The current coupler is a simple whisker type long shank coupler.  Any suggestions?

Thank you.

The '48 and '49 pieces have the wiring underneath for completing the autoreverse electrical connections. Standard EZ-Track does not.
