Large / Car Loads on the D&RG Western
August 09, 2009, 08:42:54 AM
On the D&RG Western:
They used open ended pipe gondolas with idler cars on each end for the over length pipe which swung over the idler cars. Does anyone know the size and length of these pipes they used.
I am under the impression the pipe was for oil well drilling. Also any pictures of how they looked and how they loaded these gondolas of pipe, would be most helpful and since we are on car loads. How about flat car loads, any pictures of typical flat car loads would also be appreciated.
Followed by my long caboose, I have been waiting for. Anticipation will have soon paided off, I hope !!!!.. Sorry about that....., I couldn't resist.
Thanks in advance. ;D

Any truth to the rumor that the Parent company owning Bachmann will be the most likely to acquire the Marklin/LGB package considering that LGB via Marklin is in bankruptcy for the second time.
And my insider was wrong on the release date of the long caboose, any up date on it.... The ship from China hasn't sunk, has it. I hope not !.

Large / D&RGW Long Caboose - Up Date
May 20, 2009, 05:01:50 PM
Hope I am closer to to actual release date this time. Can't say who my source is. But, I was told that I goofed by saying a release date of mid June. I was told mid July. So here's to anticipation, that really sucks big time and hoping mid July is right. My K-27 looks lost without a long caboose. Please don't shoot the messenger.............

Large / Long Cabooses- Bachmann man
April 13, 2009, 06:26:19 PM
I called Bachmann Trains today and they told me the Denver and Rio Grande narrow gauge long caboose may be ready sometime in June, not April as I was told several months ago.
My question is what is the hold up.., why so long. I am anticipating, but it is getting too.
Thanks in advance

Large / Train shows re- Bach Man
February 15, 2009, 06:52:15 PM
This is to the Bach Man.
I am finding train shows, really boring here in Southern Ontario. Same old, same old. Never once have I seen a Manufacturer here. What would it take to get you to attend a show here in the Toronto area, to show off Bachmann products.  I know you would be a show stopper, and what a boust of Garden Railroading you would be.  Maybe you could start a trend and maybe  Aristocraft, USA Trains, Lgb ( Marklin ) ,etc, etc, may even catch on. Canada could be your undiscovered country. I challenge you to be the leader. I would even help you with contacts if needed.

To the Backmann Man
I just had to wish you and your Family, and all at Bachmann a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
You have taught me to anticipate, and I have. When your Denver & Rio Grande long Caboose arrives in the spring, It will look great behind my K-27. Keep up the wonderful work the Bachmann team does. Hope every one get what they want for Christmas.

Large / Wheel size question for the Bachmann man
September 14, 2008, 06:31:01 PM
I have installed an Air Wire battery control system and P5 phoenix sound system into the K-27 .
It runs great and to all who responded to my questions on this board , a big , big THANKS . My hat is off to you all . But I still have one more question ( for the bachmann man ) , Besides when will you have the  chuff synchronization working .
My down fall for me in this hobby is I am a rivet counter . Which can sometimes be a bad thing to be .  My question to you ( finally ) is What is the size of the tender wheel as compared to the driver wheels . My sound system sounds great but it / or should I say I can't quarter it right . Its off just a bit and I was told if the tender wheels are half the size of the drivers , by cutting a hole to fit the phoenix reed switch into the front of the tender  and placing a magnet on the Axle of the first or second wheel of the lead tender truck , this will quarter the sound system to a " T " .  Is this so .
Thanks in advance   Mudhen

Large / K-27 chuff synchronization
July 29, 2008, 07:48:52 PM
To the Bach man,
Having purchased one of your K-27's (#453 ). I have just installed battery power supplied by the Air Wire 9000, and sound by the Phoenix P5. One problem still remains, the sensors in the steam chests do not give 4 beats per revolution as I understood it to be, and it should work in this engine, as advertised. Maybe I have done something wrong as not to make it work right.
Short of putting 4 magnets on on the last axle and using a reed switch. Do you have any solutions to making it work and sounding correct. I am planning on buying a 2nd K-27 and I was wondering, will the problem be fixed in the 2nd generation.
I can't wait to hear two of these mudhens echoing their chuff and whistle in my back yard. You truly out did yourselves at Bachmann on this engine. Congratulations. Hoping that somewhere in the near future you will come out with some larger K engines
Thanks in advance,  Your friend in bachmann railroading

Large / sound systems
May 21, 2008, 07:49:07 PM
Just talked to John from air wire 9000 down in Florida. And to my surprise I have a brand new Phoenix 2k2 sound compete with speaker , which is useless to me because I wish to put it , into my Bachmann K-27.
John said I need a phoenix P5 system . My 2k2 is unopened and I am looking to swap my 2k2 for a new P5 . Anyone intersted.

Large / air wire 9000
March 20, 2008, 05:46:17 AM
Has any one successfully added an air wire remote system to a K-27.
With no hum, proper 4 beats per revolution etc,etc , and have it run problem free.
Someone out there, has had to of done this by now. You geniuses in bachmann land have had almost 3 months to work this out.
I can't believe I am the only one waiting to run air wire !!!!!!!!!!.

Large / Counter weights and air wire 900
March 13, 2008, 07:00:24 PM
Just sent my K-27 to Bachmann to have the counter weights repaired. Its not the repair that bothers me, but up to last, Saturday I didnt even know there was a counter weight problem, and I would not have known except for this web sight. I guess living in Barrie, Ontario, an hours drive from Toronto, tells me that Canadian are like mushrooms, left in the dark and **** on.
But I an going to changing that, by informing club member in the area about this recall or fix. Now that I have that off my chest.
I am thinking of installing the Air Wire 900 Into my K-27 and the sound system is the 2k2. Never having installed either, I wish to place the battery's in a stock car ( an amc cattle car ) and attach it to the tender. Any help in installing the Air Wire, Sound system would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help........  Mudhen
